Memorial weekend with ruth...

We headed  into a headwind for about three miles.   It was doable and we were up to the task.   We found an excellent camp with a good rock and a sand beach.  We made camp and had supper.  At sunset we fished.  I caught a walleye right in front of camp from the canoe.    We cleaned it on a nearby island.  It was a beautiful night to be in the woods and on a lake.  The next morning I awoke to cold, wind and rain.   I had coffee and bagels for two hours and went back to the tent. It was miserable out.   we spent the afternoon in the comfort of the tent.    At supper time we made chicken noodle caserole. it was delicious.  However, the weather hadn't improved and we went back in the tent.    In the morning the weather had turned to blue sky, gentle breezes and warmer air.   We enjoyed our paddle out and were relieved that the weather had improved.

May 19-23, 2016 Seagull lake with the guys.

We paddled to the palisade of Seagull lake.   Our two favorite campsites were already taken at eleven o clock in the morning.  We waited for BP to find us a new campsite.   He arrived and lead us to an island south of the palisade.    It was a great spot in the wind to keep the bugs off of us.  For five days we paddled, swam, fished.  visited, ate wonderful food, and observed the wilderness in it's splendor.  We enjoyed four lake trout and some bass and northerns.  It was all delicious.  We took turns cooking and we had several outstanding meals.   We thoroughly enjoyed the camraderie and good weather.  We left monday morning.   It was a short paddle out.  Back in town we said goodbye at the blue fin restuarant.

MBA,s to Lake One

The eight of us paddled successfully to our campsite after paddling instructions and a couple miles of practice.  The group worked real hard to perfect their skills.   We found a nice camp tucked away behind an island.   Camp was set and a fire started.    We had salads, steak and potatoes for supper.  The evening was spent around the fire and we visited until late in the night.   We got up early in the morning to enjoy bacon and eggs.  We packed up efficiently and were on the water by nine thirty.   The paddle out went without a problem.   It was great to be with such happy campers.

April, 28 2016 wilth ruth and corey.

We paddled a tandem and a solo.  Ruth with me and  Corey in his Bell 16 footer.   Kristin wasn't along because she stayed home with a terrible cold.  We missed her greatly.  The three of us left the Lake One landing at ten am.  We arrived at the best Lake Four campsite a little before three pm.  It was a good day for paddleing.    We relaxed in camp for a couple hours and cooked supper.   The morning brought heavy winds and we spent the day watching the lake and distant shoreline looking for moose.   None appeared before us.  However, we thoroughly enjoyed being in the middle of the wilderness during the off season when there was no one around.  The weather was perfect and we loved being here.    Our paddle out was into a westerly wind but not impossible.  We stopped at our favorite campsite on Lake Two for lunch.  It was great to relive all the great campouts we had there.  The remaining four miles home were a joy to paddle.
